Will of Edmund Donahoe

1748 - King George Co., VA (pages 210-212)

In the Name of God Amen. I Edmond Donahoe of the County of King George in the Colony of Virginia being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect memory praise be given to God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

Imprimis: I give and bequeath to my three daughters, viz: Abigal Hudson, Margaret Donohoe and Mary Appleby one shilling sterling each.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son John Donohoe all my right of land I now live on and one shilling sterling to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son Joshua Donohoe my servant man Timothy Fenully and one black horse to him and his heirs forever and one feather bed and furniture.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Donohoe my sorrill mare to her and her heirs forever and the next feather bed and furniture after my son Joshua has had his.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Jemimah Donahoe one bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever. 

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Donahoe one shilling sterling.

Item: I give and bequeath the remainder part of my whole estate after debts paid and legacys to be equally divided amongst my three children now living with me named as followeth: Joshua Donahoe, Ann Donahoe and Jemimah Donahoe to them and their heirs forever.

Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my good friends Francis Thornton and John McCormack and John Rogers my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament and do hereby disannul and make void all former wills heretofore by me made and I do hereby acknowledge this to be my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of November in the year of our Lord 1748.

At a court held for King George County on Fryday January 6th, 1748. The last will and testament of Edmund Donahoe, deceased was presented into court by Francis Thornton and John McCormack his executors who made oath thereto and the same was proved by the oaths . . . . (text ends on this copy)

From Marriages of Richmond Co., VA 1668 - 1853 - Donahoe, Edmund (or Edward) 16?? To 1748 married Ann Tippett, daughter of Thomas Tippett . Her sister Abigail married in 1714 to a John Green. Their brother William Tippett and sisters inherited father's land in Richmond Co., which fell into King George Co. in 1721 (WB#3, page 27; King George Co., DB#3 page 228)
