B. Sigsbee Clift active in K.G.

B. Sigsbee Clift,78, of King George County died at his residence Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1999.

Born in King George, he had retired as a plate battery employee at the Naval Surface
Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division.

After his retirement. Mr. Clift farmed at Green Hills Farm in King George for 18 years.
He was president of the King George Farm Bureau from 1988 to 1992 and was a longtime
member of the King George Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a deacon at Hanover Baptist Church in King George, where he was also a past
Sunday School Superintendent.

He was an Army veteran of the World War II era.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Margaret Harris Clift; a son, Kenneth S. Clift
of King George; a daughter, Judith C. Stanfield of King George; two sisters, Dorothy C.
Newton of King George and Virginia C. Henderson of Fredericksburg; six grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Charles Bowie Clift.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hanover Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve
Stegrist and the Rev. Willis Dempsey officiating. Burial will be in Historyland Memorial
Park, King George.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service time Thursday at the church.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hanover
Baptist Church, 10312 Hanover Church Road, King George, VA 22485; or to Gideons
International, Box 1522, Dahlgren, Va 22448.
