Mrs. Shirley Anne Coates, 53, of King George County died of cancer
Tuesday, April 12, at her home.
 

Born in Washington, she moved to King George in 1959.
 

She was the owner of Shirley's Country Kitchen, which she opened in the
King George courthouse area and later moved to Dahlgren. Before that she
owned and operated a day care center in the county. She had been a secretary
for Padgett Oil Co. in King George.
 

Mrs. Coates was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church and a member of
Descending Dove Christian Center, both in King George.
 

Survivors, include two sons, Stanley "Butch" LiCalzi of King George and Daniel J.
LiCarlzi of Colonial Beach; a daughter, Catherine A. Jerow of King George; two
stepchildren; Mary Anne Groves of Colonial Beach and Malcolm Coates Jr. of
Culpeper; four brothers, George H. Pitts, Jr., Charles M. Pitts and Robert L. Pitts,
all of King George, and Oliver L. Pitts of Sharpsburg, Md.; seven grandchildren;
two great-granddaughters; and a former husband, Mac E. Coates of King George.
 

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home in King
George, with Helen Lehr officiating. Burial will be in Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to
the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Richard Wheat, Box 911, Dahlgren, Va.,
22448, or to the Dahlgren Rescue Squad, Box 1375, Dahlgren, Va., 22448.
