Mrs. Claudia W. "Billie" Kitts, 89, of Colonial Beach died Saturday, Oct. 19,
at Mary Washington Hospital.

Born at Cavannah Farm near Colonial Beach, Mrs. Kitts was a graduate of
Mary Washington College. She taught in several school systems during her 40-years
teaching career, including Surry County, Radford, King George County, Colonial
Beach and Santa Fe. N.M.

She was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church in King George, where she was the
organist and pianist for 50 years. She was music director for the adult and youth choirs
for many years.

She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, the American
Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3195, the National Association of Retired
Federal Employees Chapter 595, Friends of Stratford Hall and the Mary Washington
College Golden Club.

She was the widow of Kenneth A. Kitts. Survivors include numerous cousins.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Round Hill Baptist Church, with the
Rev. Lester Curtis officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's/Oak Grove Cemetery in
Westmoreland County.
