MR. HENRY V. TURNER DEAD ----- PASSED AWAY AT MARY
WASHINGTON HOSPITAL HERE. -----
He Was Sick Only a Few Days Mr. Henry V.
Turner, a very prominent citizen and farmer of King George county,
died at the Mary Washington Hospital in this city Tuesday morning
at 5 o’clock of pneumonia, after an illness of a week, aged 61 years.
The deceased came to this city Tuesday before Christmas and registered
at the Exchange Hotel. That night he was taken ill and Dr. W. J.
Chewning was called in and on Wednesday morning he was feeling so
much better that he went out and attended to business. Wednesday
night his illness returned and on the advice of his physician he was
taken to the hospital Thursday. Pneumonia developed and he gradually
grew worse until he passed away. Mr. Turner was born in King George
and was a member of a family that has been identified with the county
for the past hundred years. He was a gentleman of cultivated tastes,
genial disposition, possessed considerable means and was a member and
vestryman of Emanuel [sic] Episcopal church of Port Conway. A widow
and one son, Mr. R. V. Turner, survive him. The body was taken his
home Tuesday and the funeral will be held from Emanuel [sic] church
Thursday afternoon. Services will be conducted by Rev. B. T. Turner,
of King George C. H. and the interment made in the church yard, where
three of his children are buried.
