| William Landrum Skillern was my 2XGr Grandfather b 1795, Bowling Green,
Warren Co, son of William and Nancy (ALCORN) SKILLERN. He died abt
October, 1844 in Morgantown. His family was from the earliest Scotch-Irish
Presbyterian settlement in VA at Tinkling Springs in Augusta Co. He owned
a Dry Goods Store in Morgantown where he
and his family had moved about 1826 to live in the Woodbury Section. He was married on May , 1823, in Warren Co, to Harriet R. ADAMS (1804VA-bef 1880 Morgantown). His wife's family was connected with the KELLY and HINES families of Campbell and Charlotte Co., VA and also locally in Butler Co. WLS and HRA had four children: 1) Ella M SKILLERN 2) William Thomas SKILLERN m. Eliza Jane PHELPS, dt Julian R and Sarah (SMITH) PHELPS, (married twice): Sarah JAMES, and Melissa WILSON; 3) James Crutcher SKILLERN m.
